Anna Gasiorek

Anna is a Registered Psychologist, based in Adelaide. She developed a passion for working with current and former serving members of the ADF when offered a counselling role with Open Arms - Veterans and Families Counselling Service in 2018. Her special interest is in providing evidence-based, trauma-informed psychology support to Defence personnel and veterans impacted by trauma and related issues, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Moral Injury and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Throughout her almost six years with Open Arms she also supported members/veterans experiencing a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, impacts of relationship breakdowns/ impacts of work-place challenges, adjustment post discharge, loss of identity/self-worth, grief and loss as well as hazardous alcohol intake. Her personal connection to the Armed Forces is her father having completed National Service with the Polish Armed Forces and then joining the Reserves for approximately 10 years prior to migrating to Australia.

Anna is also trained in addiction counselling, having previously worked for the Drug and Alcohol Services of South Australia (DASSA) and trained in sexual assault counselling having previously worked with the NSW Health. Anna utilises cognitive behavioural therapy techniques (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). She consults Australia-wide via Telehealth and face-to-face in Daw Park, South Australia. Anna is well connected to the Veteran Wellbeing Centre (SA) and the Jamie Larcombe Centre - Veterans Hospital (SA).
